The Automation Engineering Technician II is responsible for sustaining and improving automated manufacturing and inspection equipment to maximize safety, uptime, quality, and production performance. The technician independently performs troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, equipment improvements, and supports Automation Engineers during the development, validation, and deployment of new automation systems. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, good problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct Preventative Maintenance (PM) on various machines and automated equipment
- Support ongoing Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, as well as develop new CI opportunities
- Communicate and interface regularly with stakeholders and employees throughout the BSE organization
- Coordinate maintenance with Operations personnel to minimize machine downtime
- Assists engineers with the integration, testing and deployment of new automated systems into the production environment
- Independently diagnose and troubleshoot various equipment machines and automated equipment to support production operations
- Independently maintain and repair various machines and automated equipment
- Independently set-up precision tooling, robotic/automated systems, PLC’s, and vision systems
- Develop and maintain machine and equipment PM work instructions, and maintain a PM completion schedule
- Assist in the development of tools and fixtures to improve machine capabilities/uptime/yield/process time
- Design and fabricate tools or fixtures needed to maintain and improve equipment
- Assist in the development, updates and maintenance of Engineering documentation, Work Instructions and Tools
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Education:
- Associates Degree or certificated post-secondary coursework in electronics, robotics or electro-mechanical and/or minimum 3 years demonstrated experience in a similar technical environment
Experience:
- Experience in high volume manufacturing environment
- Experience troubleshooting electronic, mechanical and/or electromechanical systems and equipment
- Experience with laser cutting and welding processes and techniques
- Experience with small precision machined components and associated manufacturing processes and tolerances
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work in a highly collaborative environment
- Must be hands on and interface with plant personnel and operators
- Must have basic ability to identify and solve problems with little direction or assistance
- Basic ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
- Basic knowledge of pneumatic and electrical actuators and systems
- Proficient ability to identify and solve problems with little direction or assistance
- Proficient ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
- Proficient knowledge of pneumatic and electrical actuators and systems
- Basic knowledge of Robot / Vision / PLC Programming
- Employee spends most of their day standing
