CUSTODIAL TEAM LEADER

Qualifications

  • Training and experience in custodial maintenance of school facilities
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work
  • Knowledge of safe working methods and procedures
  • Ability to exercise initiative and use good independent judgment
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to train and provide work direction to assigned staff
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible schedules
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate district vehicles

REPORTS TO: Administrator as assigned

JOB GOAL: To provide students and staff with safe, attractive, comfortable and clean educational environment

Performance Responsibilities

  • Trains, assigns and directs work, and provides leadership for custodial crew; works variety of schedules as requiredincluding evenings, swing shifts, split shifts, days or weekends
  • Assists in planning and scheduling of custodial crews; orders supplies and maintains inventories
  • Inspects crew work for accuracy and compliance with established standards; reports safety hazards and repair needsto appropriate personnel
  • Drives district vehicle to transport crew members, equipment and supplies
  • Maintains security of district property when crew is on premises; locks and unlocks gates, doors and windows; setsalarm systems; turns main water, power and gas lines on and off as necessary; responds to emergency calls as needed
  • Makes minor non-technical repairs and adjustments to equipment
  • Performs duties as crew member including but not limited to cleaning classrooms, offices, restrooms, kitchens,cafeterias and other site facilities; operates cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffer, floor cleaning and polishing machines, gasoline blower, etc.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, strips, seals, disinfects, mops, waxes and polishes floors; cleans and vacuums carpets
  • Dusts, cleans and polishes furniture
  • Cleans walls, ceilings, windows, woodwork, chalkboards and equipment
  • Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains, telephones, trash cans, rest rooms and kitchen areas
  • Dusts light fixtures, furnaces, ledges; empties trash receptacles and pencil sharpeners; stocks and replaces towel and soap dispensers
  • Replaces lights and batteries; sets clocks; resets fire alarms and bell systems
  • Picks up paper, glass and debris; cleans, rakes, sweeps, waters grounds; checks sprinkling systems; sprayspesticides; removes graffiti
  • Sets up, moves and adjusts furniture and equipment as needed
  • May be assigned to care for and display flags
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

SALARY: $20.47 - $33.33 per hour

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District's Improvement of Professional Services" handbook, Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable.

New Probationary Employees And Permanent Employees Who Become

PROBATIONARY UPON RECLASSIFICATION

A new employee, or a permanent employee who is changed to a new classification, shall serve a probationary period, which shall not exceed six (6) months of duty time exclusive of leaves of absence or other absences. During this probationary period the employee must meet the required standards of performance to be recommended for permanent status in the classification. A probationary classified service employee may be terminated from the probationary classification at any time without cause, without right of appeal or hearing before the Board of Education. Pursuant to Education Code section 45113, a permanent employee who accepts a promotion and fails to complete the probationary period for that promotional position, shall be employed in the classification from which he or she was promoted.

Please check with Human Resources regarding acceptable documents. For positions requiring college course work official transcripts will be required upon employment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
