    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Experience and desire to work with children; ability to command respect using positive leadership skills
    • Experience in working with students in physical education or recreation
    • Knowledge of or ability to learn appropriate laws, school safety procedures, and district policies and procedures
    • Ability to recognize signs of danger to school property and on campus
    • Ability to follow oral and written directions
    • Ability to exercise good judgment, neatness, integrity and punctuality
    • Ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, students and community
    • Ability to work in an exposure of various temperatures, humidity, dust and dirt
    • Ability to respect confidential matters

    Principal or designee

    JOB GOAL: To support the social emotional, mental and physical safety and welfare of all students through direct supervision and promotion of pro-social behavior during school activities

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Supervises students in cafeteria, on playground, at bus stops, in halls, corridors, restrooms, and designated crosswalks to observe student activities to ensure safe and appropriate behavior
    • Promotes pro-social behavior while supervising students during school activities occurring throughout the school campus and in surrounding neighborhood
    • Ensures student social emotional, mental and physical safety through observation and monitoring of student behavior; modeling and intervening when necessary to maintain a safe environment
    • Assists in guiding pupils in development of desirable and acceptable social skills and habits
    • Encourages healthy attitudes towards other adults in authority
    • Assists in general welfare and safety of students; reports accidents and hazardous conditions immediately
    • Assists with District's emergency/disaster preparedness and response and school safety and security procedures
    • Routes visitors without visitor's pass to the school office
    • Encourages positive bus/playground/cafeteria standards
    • Assists with clearing and washing of cafeteria tables, chairs, and benches
    • Consistently instructs, encourages, and monitors correct rules and organization of games to help establish pro-social habits and social-emotional competencies for fair play in order to enjoy wholesome recreation activities
    • Schedules and directs noon games/activities for students
    • Administers CPR and first aid if needed
    • Assists with accounting of school materials, supplies, and sports equipment as assigned
    • Attends and participates in trainings related to student behavior, nonviolent crisis intervention, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS), Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), implementation of school safety plan, safe school strategies, crisis response, safety exercises and other related trainings as assigned
    • Assists school site with the District's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programs
    • Works with administrators, safety officials, campus supervisors, and other staff regarding student and safety issues
    • Promptly reports suspicious or concerning behavior to site administration
    • Models personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, personal and collective accountability
    • Performs other related duties as assigned

    SALARY:
    $17.95- $29.28 per hour

    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District's "Improvement of Professional Services" handbook, Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable

    NEW PROBATIONARY EMPLOYEES AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES WHO BECOME PROBATIONARY UPON RECLASSIFICATION:

    A new employee, or a permanent employee who is changed to a new classification, shall serve a probationary period, which shall not exceed six (6) months of duty time exclusive of leaves of absence or other absences. During this probationary period the employee must meet the required standards of performance to be recommended for permanent status in the classification. A probationary classified service employee may be terminated from the probationary classification at any time without cause, without right of appeal or hearing before the Board of Education. Pursuant to Education Code section 45113, a permanent employee who accepts a promotion and fails to complete the probationary period for that promotional position, shall be employed in the classification from which he or she was promoted.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
