The Buyer is responsible for managing a specific group or category of products, ensuring the right products are available at the right time, price, and quality. This role involves sourcing and negotiating with vendors to optimize sales and minimize costs within their assigned category. They also analyze market trends and customer preferences to make informed purchasing decisions and improve product offerings.

- Coordinate procurement activities for select purchased and manufacturing products. This involves the creation and execution of purchase and/or work orders within the system.
- Execute vendor procurement plans and/or internal procurement plans to fulfill requirements for both internal and external products.
- Coordinate with vendors implementing and/or maintain replenishment systems such as consignment and vendor-managed inventory.
- Ensure that product is available to meet production requirements timely.
- Drive inventory reductions. Provide reporting, visibility, follow-up and work cross-functionally to meet expected levels.
- Review inventories for excess and obsolescence.
- Support Engineering changes, quoting and new project/product releases. Mitigate inventory impacts.
- Help to maintain planning parameters including Safety Stocks, Cost, and Lead times. Ordering and allocations.
- Manage vendor delivery schedules.
- Establish and manage ongoing relationships with vendors.
- Integrate and improve supply chain through advanced procurement methods.
- Evaluate purchase orders and supply base weekly for potential delivery or quality problems. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrences.
- Resolve ASN or PO discrepancies.
- Evaluate each vendor assigned to the Category Manager to determine optimal order frequency, order minimums, pack sizes, shipment method etc.
- Responsible for daily execution of orders and allocations based on system recommendations.
- Manage inventory turn with a focus on eliminating over stocks, duplication and dead inventory within the product mix, including new product introductions and product rationalization.
- Ensure product data is accurate and updated within the system including but not limited to product specifications, descriptions and vendor program elements etc.
- Analyze system data to forecast demand and optimize inventory levels.
- Monitoring vendors lead time and fulfillment to ensure we remain in stock on all products.
- Work with all operations teams to implement category strategies and improve stock levels.
- Responsible for all correspondence between vendors and internal customers.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ purchasing experience in a manufacturing, parts or supply chain environment
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent preferred.
- APICS Certification a plus
