Responsibilities
- Measure and prepare surfaces for flooring installation by reading blueprints, schematics, and construction plans.
- Use hand tools and power tools to cut, shape, and install flooring materials accurately.
- Lay tiles, hardwood, laminate, or carpet according to manufacturer instructions and industry standards.
- Perform floor preparation tasks such as leveling, underlayment installation, and surface cleaning.
- Assist with related tasks including caulking, trim carpentry, fixture installation, and floor care maintenance.
- Collaborate with project managers and other tradespeople to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of debris safely.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of flooring installation techniques across various materials including tile laying and carpet fitting.
- Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to interpret project requirements.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as saws, hammers, chisels, and measuring devices; familiarity with power tools is essential.
- Background in construction estimating, remodeling, concrete finishing, or restoration industry experience is a plus.
- Ability to perform water damage restoration tasks or water damage-related flooring repairs is advantageous.
- Skilled in using construction site safety protocols and understanding blueprint details for fixture installation or cabinetry work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with hands-on experience in construction painting, buffing floors, or floor maintenance routines.
