Summer Business Development (BD) Intern (Temporary – 8 Weeks).
The NA BDMC ID&E Summer Internship Program will run for eight weeks, from Monday, June 1 through Friday, July 24. The intern will support the implementation of strategic business development, client development, and marketing initiatives across the region. This role is an integral part of the Firm’s North America Business Development (NA BD) team.
Main responsibilities:
Firm Profiling and Events:
- Work with the NA BD team to execute webinars and special events taking place in our major NA markets
- Draft and edit presentations, internal communications, and external communications, with oversight from the NA BD team
- Update and maintain client mailing lists
- Update event budgets based on actual and projected spending
Business Development and Client Development:
- Support the NA BD team by editing and formatting proposals and capability statements
- Support strategic client development projects and provide support for activities that focus on target clients in the region
- Use internal databases to research client financial information such as revenue, billing, matters and timekeepers
- Create reports on client activity in the region, with oversight from the NA BD team
- Support the NA BD team with requests for client research, including liaising with the Firm's global research team
Marketing Collateral and Brand Management:
- Make edits to marketing collateral, as directed by the NA BD team
- Draft and edit attorney and economist CVs, as directed by the NA BD team
- Update internal NA BD website and databases, as directed by the team
- Research branded promotional items to be used at client programs, and place orders when instructed by the NA BD team
- Process payments for promotional items with the Firm's accounting teams
Skills and experience:
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree, preferably in Communications or Marketing
- Strong judgment and able to make well-reasoned decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong reporting skills
- Basic understanding of strategic market communications and issues
- Comfortable working across multiple cultures and time zones in a matrix organization
- Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills, including a pleasant nature, and can demonstrate the ability to work with a team
- Strong organizational skills
- A high level of attention to detail
- Strong project management skills and capable of successfully managing multiple projects and deadlines
- Familiar with the internet and web-based platforms
- Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, or similar)
- A high level of energy and persistence, and a good understanding of the importance of delivering exceptional customer service to clients
- Genuine interest in commercial and business issues
