About the Role
Baker Law Group is seeking a full-time New Mexico Civil Litigation Attorney to support and grow our New Mexico practice. This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys variety, can handle a broad range of matters, and is comfortable working in a fast-moving, client-focused law firm environment.
We are looking for someone with litigation experience who can step into a diverse caseload involving civil litigation, real estate, business disputes, pre-litigation matters, and related New Mexico legal work. Probate experience is also helpful, though not required.
This is a strong opportunity for an attorney who wants meaningful responsibility, flexibility, and the chance to help build Baker Law Group’s presence in New Mexico.
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities may include:
- Handle a broad range of New Mexico civil litigation matters
- Manage pre-litigation and litigation files from early case assessment through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, demand letters, and other legal documents
- Advise clients on case strategy, risks, timelines, and next steps
- Represent clients in hearings, conferences, mediations, and other court proceedings as needed
- Support matters involving real estate, business disputes, contracts, general civil litigation, and related areas
- Assist with probate-related matters when needed and where experience allows
- Conduct legal research and provide practical legal analysis
- Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and leadership across the firm
- Help develop and strengthen the firm’s New Mexico practice
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a New Mexico attorney with 5 years of experience and a broad civil practice background.
Strong candidates will have:
- Active New Mexico bar admission
- 5 years of legal experience
- Civil litigation experience
- Experience with real estate, business, contract, or commercial disputes
- Ability to handle both pre-litigation and litigation matters
- Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
- Comfort managing cases independently
- Good judgment and practical problem-solving ability
- Strong client communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
- A flexible, team-oriented mindset
- Willingness to assist with a variety of legal matters as the New Mexico practice grows
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following areas is helpful:
- Real estate litigation
- Business litigation
- Contract disputes
- Commercial disputes
- Probate
- Guardianship or conservatorship
- General civil litigation
- Administrative or regulatory matters
- Court appearances, hearings, mediations, or trial preparation
Criminal or family law experience is welcome as part of a broader background, but this is not intended to be a criminal-only or family-only role. The firm is primarily looking for someone who can support civil, real estate, business, litigation, and related New Mexico matters.
Work Arrangement
This role may be remote, hybrid, or in-person depending on the candidate’s location and fit. Albuquerque is preferred, but candidates located anywhere in New Mexico will be considered.
Some in-person appearances or travel within New Mexico may occasionally be required, but the role does not require daily office attendance.
Compensation
This role offers a base salary of $150,000–$200,000, depending on experience. We also offer a tiered bonus structure, over and above base salary amount.
