Mechanic Job Description
The mechanic will be responsible for repairing and performing preventative maintenance on all company equipment. The mechanic maintains the fleet by inspecting and servicing vehicles and equipment, conducting performance tests; diagnosing problems; repairing or replacing parts.
Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual will possess the following combination of education, experience, skills and qualities:
Reports To: Shop Service Manager
Hours: Monday- Friday - Can be placed on either shift based on business demands
The mechanic will be responsible for repairing and performing preventative maintenance on all company equipment. The mechanic maintains the fleet by inspecting and servicing vehicles and equipment, conducting performance tests; diagnosing problems; repairing or replacing parts.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and service to a variety of landscape power equipment including commercial mowers, 2 cycle equipment, utility vehicles, trucks and trailers
- Operate safely and maintain shop in a clean, orderly manner
- Maintain equipment in good working condition; the nature of the job requires that we work long hours at times; overtime may be required.
- Responsible for sharpening blades, grease equipment, change the oil in all equipment including all trucks and trailer
- Perform full inspections of truck, trailers and lawn maintenance equipment in order to repair problems before they become safety issues
- Work directly with employees addressing concerns
- May be asked to travel to other locations operated by the company with possible overnight stay on larger jobs
- Other task as assigned
To perform this job successfully, an individual will possess the following combination of education, experience, skills and qualities:
- A professional with a minimum of (2 ) years repair experience with mowers, small engines, 2 cycle equipment and utility vehicles
- Must be able to reach overhead, work in various positions (including stopping, standing, bending over, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance of tools or other personnel, push and pull materials and equipment repeatedly throughout the work day
- Basic automotive repair experience
- A team player with excellent communication abilities
- Strong organizational skills, shop cleanliness, inventory and parts ordering, desire to stay proactive and not reactive as it applies to preventative maintenance and repairs
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Must have valid Driver's license and clean driving records
Reports To: Shop Service Manager
Hours: Monday- Friday - Can be placed on either shift based on business demands
- 1st shift 5:00am -2:00pm (one half hour lunch)
- 2nd shift 11:00am 7:00pm (one half hour lunch)
