Life in Conway: Located in the eastern part of the state, Conway is a small North Carolina town within 100 miles of Richmond, Norfolk-Virginia Beach and the Raleigh-Durham area.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like? Here are your primary responsibilities:
Purchase raw materials for sites based on demand planning reviews and procurement’s allocations for vendors by site. Requires understanding of current inventories of critical raw materials at the sites in addition to average daily consumptions of each.
Provide input during demand planning reviews to optimize inventories and maintain target days of supply.
Purchase packaging for finished goods and/or storage of raw materials.
Partner with Supply Chain Logistics to requisition intra-plant transfers of materials as needed.
Coordinate delivery and/or ship dates with site schedulers for the respective sites and ensure these are included on the purchase order. Make adjustments as necessary with the vendors and/or sister sites.
Track shipments – particularly rail – to ensure timely deliveries and follow up with vendors should deliveries appear to be at risk.
Review and code raw material and packaging.
Ensure, by working with the site and R&D, EH&S, that there are no issues with new raw materials either from a material handling perspective or permit perspective.
Close out all open PO’s that are complete monthly.
Coordinate with logistics to plan shopping of raw materials railcars for requalification, repairs, etc. Communicate plans to the site for execution.
Track demurrage charged by the railroad and/or the vendor on all rail shipments.
Assist procurement with vendor management when needed.
Identify and/or implement continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
Support Procurement when there are quality issues with raw materials.
What is Needed to be Successful in this Role (Required Skills/Abilities):
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
3-5 years purchasing experience and/or operations experience.
Knowledge of the principles of MRP and purchasing.
Experience w/ SAP, M3, excel preferred.
Strong analytical skills.
Able to work well with all levels of the organization.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
