Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Civil Structural Engineer with expertise in cold-formed/light gauge steel design and a valid California PE license. The ideal candidate will lead the design and analysis of light gauge steel framing systems for commercial, residential, and mixed-use buildings, working closely with architects, developers, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, analyze, and detail cold-formed steel structures in accordance with California Building Code (CBC), AISI, and ASCE standards.
- Prepare structural calculations, drawings, and specifications for submittals and permitting.
- Stamp and sign structural documents as Engineer of Record for projects within California.
- Perform structural modeling using tools such as RISA, CFS, SAP2000, Revit, Telka Structures, and/or AutoCAD.
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stay current on industry codes, materials, and best practices specific to light gauge steel systems.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction administration support.
- Mentor junior engineers and drafters, providing quality control and technical guidance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Active California PE License (required).
- 5 years of structural engineering experience with a focus on light gauge steel systems.
- Proficiency in relevant structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, CFS, ETABS, STAAD, AutoCAD).
- Strong knowledge of cold-formed steel design, lateral systems, and seismic considerations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with design-build delivery or coordination with panelized/prefabricated systems.
- Familiarity with DSA or OSHPD project requirements (if applicable).
- PE License in other states
- SE License (Structural Engineer – CA) is a plus but not required.
