Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility to promote independence and comfort.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate medical documentation.
- Support clinical staff with procedures such as catheter care, wound care, and aseptic techniques to maintain infection control standards.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments within memory or behavioral health units.
- Operate medical equipment including Hoyer lifts, ECG machines, and assist with phlebotomy procedures when necessary.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and patient safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in diverse settings such as hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, outpatient clinics, and home care environments.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations.
- Experience working in various healthcare environments including hospitals (Level I Trauma Centers preferred), nursing homes, assisted living or home health care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support techniques.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate documentation.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting patients using Hoyer lifts and assisting with mobility needs.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages—including pediatrics—and team members.
