Job Overview
Bainbridge Youth Services is seeking a motivated and community-focused Youth Mentoring & Volunteer Coordinator to coordinate programs that connect young people with academic, employment, and community support.
This position will oversee BYS’s peer tutoring program, study groups, adult volunteer involvement, and youth job board. The coordinator will help recruit and support volunteers, connect students with appropriate resources, communicate with families and community partners, and ensure programs are welcoming, organized, and responsive to youth needs.
This paid position is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local youth while building experience in program coordination, volunteer management, community outreach, and youth engagement.
Monday through Thursday, 2:00–5:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the BYS peer tutoring program, including matching students with peer tutors and supporting ongoing communication.
- Organize and facilitate study groups that provide students with a welcoming and productive place to complete schoolwork.
- Supervise and engage with youth during group programs to ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
- Recruit, screen, orient, schedule, and support adult volunteers who assist with BYS programs and activities.
- Maintain and promote the BYS youth job board by communicating with local employers and sharing appropriate employment opportunities with young people.
- Respond to questions from youth, families, tutors, volunteers, employers, and community partners.
- Track tutor, student, volunteer, study group, and job board participation.
- Maintain accurate program records, schedules, contact information, and required forms.
- Support outreach and recruitment through social media, flyers, email, school partnerships, and community events.
- Help ensure that all programs are inclusive, youth-centered, safe, and consistent with BYS policies.
- Assist with volunteer and tutor training, program evaluation, and identifying opportunities to strengthen services.
- Represent BYS professionally at community meetings, school events, and outreach activities.
Qualifications
- Experience working with youth.
- Experience with tutoring and education.
- Pass a Background Check
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple programs, schedules, and participants.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with youth, families, volunteers, and community partners.
- Comfort using email, shared calendars, spreadsheets, online forms, social media, and basic database systems.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Reliable, professional, flexible, and attentive to detail.
