The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Program Assistant to join our small, dedicated team. This is a hands-on role where you will support our members in their daily activities, both at Stephen’s House and out in the community. You will play a key part in facilitating outings, such as CrossFit or trips to local farms, while ensuring our members feel heard, safe, and empowered.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Support: Provide empathetic and person-centered support to members during daily routines and community outings.
- Safety & Logistics: Ensure member safety during transitions and activities. This includes maintaining a 3-year clean driving record for group transport.
- Behavioral Support: Use calm, redirection-based techniques to support members during difficult moments, ensuring their dignity is always preserved.
- Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with families, caregivers, and the Executive Director.
- Advocacy: Act as a champion for our members, ensuring their voices and choices are respected and prioritized.
- Confidentiality: Handle all member information with the utmost privacy and professional discretion.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director and volunteers to create a positive, high-energy environment.
Qualifications
- Compassion First: A deep, genuine interest in supporting adults with IDD.
- Boundaries & Professionalism: The ability to balance a warm, friendly approach with firm professional boundaries.
- Adaptability: A positive mindset and the ability to "show up" for our members, even when the day is challenging.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills for reporting incidents and interacting with parents.
- Requirements: Must have a clean driving record for at least 3 years and pass a criminal background check.
