The Adaptive Recreation Aide assists individuals with disabilities in a variety of recreation programs for all ages such as art and enrichment, outdoor, sports, fitness, and aquatic activities. Under the general supervision of the Adaptive Coordinator, the Adaptive Recreation Aide supports individuals with disabilities by assisting with the implementation of inclusive recreational programs, social activities, and special events. This position is responsible for fostering a safe environment, facilitating participation engagement, assisting with activity setup, and promoting positive and accessible experiences for diverse populations.

3. Assist instructors with developing, prepping, and setting up class materials including sports, arts and crafts, and social events

5. Advise or guide staff to support the participant and facilitate conversations to ensure the participant has the best possible experience
6. Communicate with participants, families, and caregivers to support engagement
7. Maintains adaptive equipment
8. Reports participant progress or concerns to supervisors
9. Record attendance, track participant progress, and report incidents or behavioral concerns to supervisors

- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
- Must pass criminal background check
- Ability to work harmoniously in a group and to interact with the participants of all ages in a positive and courteous manner
- Ability to communicate in a concise and articulate manner both orally and in writing
- Ability to accept supervision and to communicate effectively with participants and supervisors
- Possess a flexible, positive attitude, enthusiasm and excellent problem-solving skills preferred; has a positive, patient, and supportive attitude towards people with disabilities
- Ability to work indoors or outdoors
- Ability to work safely
- Ability to react quickly to safety situations
- Must be in good physical condition and able to work with all ages of children up to eight hours a day, five days a week
- Must be able to hear distress noises and hear and see distress signals in a variety of environments, keeping safety in mind at all times
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, grab, pull and push objects up to 50 pounds, squat down, stoop, kneel, crouch and jump
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including safely lifting children
- Move equipment as needed
- Hours vary and may include early morning, weekend, and evening shifts
