Bainbridge Arts & Crafts (BAC) is a nonprofit gallery and community arts organization dedicated to showcasing contemporary art and craft by Northwest artists while fostering creativity through exhibitions, education, and public programs. Since 1948, BAC has connected artists and the community through thoughtfully curated exhibitions, a vibrant retail gallery, and meaningful arts experiences.
Position Summary
The Education & Program Coordinator helps bring Bainbridge Arts & Crafts' educational programming and community engagement to life. This position coordinates artist talks, workshops, education initiatives, and community partnerships while also serving as a member of the gallery team.
The position includes regular gallery shifts as well as dedicated administrative time to support program planning, and community outreach.
Responsibilities
Gallery Operations
- Serve as a member of the gallery team during scheduled gallery shifts.
- Welcome visitors, artists, and community members and provide exceptional customer service.
- Process gallery sales using the point-of-sale system.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures and help maintain a welcoming gallery environment.
- Answer visitor questions about exhibitions, artists, memberships, and public programs.
Education & Public Programs
- Coordinate artist talks, workshops, demonstrations, and other public programs.
- Serve as the primary logistical contact for participating artists and presenters.
- Coordinate schedules, supplies, event logistics, and participant communications.
- Support program setup, execution, and evaluation.
Program Administration
- Maintain records of program participation and community engagement.
- Assist with grant reporting and program documentation.
- Collect stories, photos, and program outcomes to support communications and funding reports.
- Collaborate with staff to evaluate and strengthen educational programming.
- Design or update simple promotional materials for educational programs and public events using established BAC templates.
- Distribute posters and promotional materials throughout the community.
Qualifications
- Experience in education, nonprofit programming, arts administration, event coordination, or community engagement.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Comfortable learning point-of-sale and other gallery technology systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while providing excellent customer service.
- Interest in arts education, community engagement, and supporting local artists.
Schedule
Approximately 15 hours per week, typically 3–4 days per week. The schedule includes regular gallery shifts, occasional evenings and weekends for public programs, First Friday openings, and special events.
