Role OverviewThis is a full time, on site position in Woodland, California.
The Financial Controller will oversee financial operations, ensure the integrity of financial reporting, and provide the leadership team with accurate financial insight that supports decision making and long term growth.
This role combines hands on accounting leadership with operational financial oversight across multiple entities.
What This Role OwnsFinancial Leadership
• Own month end close, financial statements, and trial balance accuracy
• Prepare year end financials and coordinate with external CPA
• Build and manage annual budgets including P&L and balance sheet
• Maintain 13 week cash flow forecast and weekly cash reporting
• Manage journal entries, prepaids, and accruals
• Own fixed assets and depreciation schedules
• Ensure ERP financial integrity and fiscal year setup
Cash, Banking, and Controls
• Reconcile all accounts including bank and general ledger
• Approve wires, ACH, and outgoing payments
• Own and manage the company’s banking relationships and financial institution partnerships
• Maintain credit facilities, financing relationships, and banking services
• Manage AR and AP oversight and support the accounting team when needed
• Maintain credit cards, prepaid balances, and financial account structure
• Ensure strong internal controls and clean audit trails
Tax and Compliance
• Manage sales tax compliance including Avalara
• Oversee excise tax, annual filings, and reporting requirements
• Support property tax, 1099 reporting, and regulatory filings
• Ensure compliance across multiple entities
Payroll, Benefits, and HR Oversight
• Oversee bi weekly payroll and commissions
• Manage benefits renewals, 401k reporting, and ACA compliance
• Ensure employee file compliance and HR regulatory requirements
• Coordinate workers compensation, OSHA reporting, and insurance audits
• Partner with leadership on HR processes and compliance
Operational Ownership
• Maintain dealer license compliance and required reporting
• Support multiple related entities and subsidiaries
• Own annual filings, renewals, and regulatory cycles
• Maintain a structured corporate reporting calendar
What Success Looks Like• Month end close is clean, consistent, and on time
• Cash visibility is clear and forward looking
• Financials are trusted and used for decision making
• Compliance is handled without surprises
• Processes are improving, not just being maintained
What the First 90 Days Will Look Like• Understand the structure of our entities, ERP systems, and financial reporting
• Take ownership of the month end close and reporting process
• Establish clear cash visibility and reporting cadence
• Strengthen financial controls and reporting structure
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting clarity
Qualifications• Strong accounting foundation with Controller level ownership
• Experience preparing and managing financial statements and financial reporting
• Expertise in accounting, general ledger management, and reconciliations
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining structure
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets required
• Experience with ERP systems required, including SAP Business One
• Experience with financial systems such as QuickBooks or similar platforms is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or CMA preferred
• Experience in equipment, industrial supply, distribution, or similar industries is a plus
