Company Description

baeGlass is a trusted Florida-licensed Glass & Glazing and Roofing Contractor specializing in premium impact windows, doors, and roofing systems. With over 10 years of experience, we provide elegant, durable, hurricane-resistant solutions at affordable prices, serving as a one-stop shop for clients across Florida.

Overview

We are seeking a Florida-licensed Professional Engineer (PE) specializing in structural design for glass, glazing, fenestration (impact windows/doors), and roofing systems. This role supports building permit applications by providing site-specific engineering compliant with the Florida Building Code (FBC), ASCE 7 wind loads, and local requirements (including HVHZ where applicable).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project estimations by performing precise takeoffs from architectural and engineering blueprints, preparing detailed quotes, and developing comprehensive technical sales presentations for new projects.
  • Conduct occasional on-site field visits to perform structural inspections, verifying that all installations strictly comply with the Florida Building Code (FBC), approved engineering plans, and the specific installation guidelines detailed in the manufacturer's Miami-Dade NOA or Florida Product Approval.
  • Perform site-specific wind load calculations and design pressure (psf) determinations based on ASCE 7, building location, exposure category, risk category, and topography.
  • Prepare and seal structural drawings, calculations, anchor/mullion designs, and engineering letters for impact-resistant windows, doors, glazing systems, and roofing (wind uplift/structural compliance).
  • Verify product approvals (Florida Product Approval FL# or Miami-Dade NOA) and ensure installations meet or exceed site-specific loads.
  • Generate permit-ready documents, including window/door schedules and wind load charts.
  • Collaborate with the team on project reviews; conduct occasional field visits for measurements, inspections, or verification.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FBC updates and hurricane mitigation standards.

Requirements

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida (structural license preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in structural engineering for glazing/fenestration and/or roofing, with proven expertise in wind load calculations.
  • Proficiency in ASCE 7, Florida Building Code, structural analysis software, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; friendly, collaborative, and strong team player.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote position with occasional field work.
  • This is a remote role with schedule flexibility, focused on delivering high-quality, permit-approved engineering for hurricane-resistant installations throughout Florida.
