Shift Mechanic - Explosives Maintenance

Job Description

BAE Systems is hiring a Shift Mechanic for our explosive manufacturing facility at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant in Kingsport, TN. This is a Maintenance Mechanic position that will work on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.

Duties include the following:

o To maintain, troubleshoot and repair process equipment used in the manufacturing of energetic materials.
o To perform maintenance on all mechanical equipment in the limited production area where energetic materials are processed.
o Rebuild gearboxes, pumps, (vacuum, centrifugal), valves.
o Know, understand and conform to all company policies, SOP's and safety documents.
o Fitting, measuring, fabricating pipe (flanges and screw).
o Removal and disassembly of equipment for inspection or repair.
o Setting and repairing equipment - pumps, motors, tanks, and aligning equipment
o Have basic knowledge of computer use, to put in Daily Time, Training and use e-mail.
o Customer Oriented
o Operate forklift, man lift and hand tools.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

High school diploma or GED with 3-5 years’ experience in industrial maintenance is preferred, to perform maintenance as listed in the job description.
o To perform maintenance on all mechanical equipment in the limited production area where energetic materials are processed.
o Must have experience in rebuilding gearboxes, pumps, (vacuum, centrifugal), valves.
o Know, understand and conform to all company policies, SOP's and safety documents.
o Must be familiar to conduct fitting, measuring, fabricating pipe (flanges and screw).

Physical Tasks: Exerts continuous physical energy. Climbs ladders, lifts and carries heavy objects (35-50 lbs). Works in confined spaces, high elevation. Work requires basic PPE and occasionally respirators, fall protection.

Working Conditions: Exposed to climate conditions. Generally disagreeable conditions. Exposed to hazardous chemicals (solvents, acids, caustics). Exposed to energetic materials (explosives). Works with hazardous cutting tools.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Vocational Education in Maintenance and/or 5 or more years of industrial maintenance experience in chemical or similar industry is preferred.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $54014 - $86423

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
