Senior Principal Data Scientist/Analyst

Job Description

At BAE Systems’ Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS), you’ll be among the brightest minds, working on the aerospace and defense industry’s most difficult problems. We are seeking a Software/System Engineers to perform as a Data Scientist/ Analyst. In this role, you will develop, transform, and model data to improve decision making. You are responsible for data extraction and manipulation of data sets resulting in workflows and predictive models for end-users using system tools (dashboards). You will conduct analysis on data to ensure correct predictive forecasting. You will manage the analytics request process by capturing requirements and are responsible for the creation and maintenance of the resulting analytic dashboards.


The Senior Data Analyst responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Integrating diverse data streams
• Ensures data integrity and accuracy, adhering to security and confidentiality protocols
• Establishes data standards and acts as custodian of IT and service delivery data sets and streams
• Collects, processes, and performs statistical analyses on large datasets to support decision-making
• Develops dashboards and visualizations for programmatic and functional teams
• Collaborates with multiple stakeholders to understand data needs and provide tailored analytical solutions
• Utilizes advanced analytical tools and techniques to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in intelligence data

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or Software Engineering and 10 years or more of related experience
• Experience integrating diverse data streams
• Proficiency in analyzing datasets, generating insights, and creating reports to support decision-making processes
• Experience in data cleaning, performing statistical analysis, and visualizing data using tools like Tableau or Power BI
• Strong understanding of database management and data warehousing concepts

• Knowledge of the complex environment involving shared networks
• Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic/collaborative environment
• Strong oral and written communications skills

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Masters Degree in Technical field
• 15 years or more experience
• Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership

Motivated self-starter with good problem solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability, with good planning and organizational skills

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $120874 - $205486

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
