BAE Systems, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated and driven mechanical engineering intern to join our summer internship program for 2026. As a Mechanical Engineer Technical Intern, you will join a team of engineers supporting hardware development opportunities that provide value to our customers and solve real world problems. As a team member your daily tasks may include CAD modeling, 3D printing, updating engineering documentation, providing support to manufacturing, resolving critical problems, improving system manufacturability and so much more! In addition to your program work, during your time as an intern you will be a part of our summer internship program. The program is set up to provide an opportunity for you to network with other interns, build relationships, and have fun! Typical summer internship activities include onsite lunches with leadership, offsite escape rooms or bowling nights, an outing to watch our San Diego Padres play at Petco Park, and a large role in organizing our primary summer fundraiser for a non-profit organization. The intern program is led by one of our engineers who will provide mentoring and coaching throughout the summer.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Transitioning into Junior or Senior year during the summer of 2026 or pursuing a graduate degree
• Majoring in Mechanical Engineering
• Some experience in CAD software such as PTC CREO or SolidWorks
• ​​​​Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities
• Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Design/Mechanical knowledge through coursework or internships
• Excellent team player who is willing to contribute and learn

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Workplace Organization
• Microsoft Office Knowledge
• Strong Mechanical Aptitude
• Ability to ensure requirements compliance
• Ability to read mechanical drawings
• Ability to perform tolerance assessments
• 3D Design and Printing

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $48620 - $65670

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
