What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marine Electrician position at BAE Systems?


Job Description
    • Must have a thorough knowledge of generators, transformers and AC and DC power
    • Must have a thorough knowledge of wire sizes and the capacity of each.
    • Must be capable of properly setting up, and using electrical test equipment (i.e. voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, phase rotation meters and meggers).
    • Must be capable of reading and interpreting blue prints and wiring diagrams.
    • Must have the ability to conduct tests or checkpoints on completed work.
    • Must have some leadership and supervisory abilities, and supervises small work groups as required.
    • Must be able to determine material and man power requirements.
    • Must have significant experience in marine electrical work.
    • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits aboard ship and at the shipyard facility.
    • Must demonstrate the ability to perform complex hook ups and installations on Navy shipboard equipment. Should have working knowledge of Navy Standard Items.
    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Must demonstrate the proper use of hand tools and test equipment and knowledge of safety in relation to electrical circuits.
    • Must demonstrate reliability in the performance of overtime and critical jobs.
    • The level of proficiency and experience is determined by and at the discretion of the Electrical Manager.
    • Must be aware of, and comply with the Company’s safety rules.
    • May be assigned miscellaneous tasks outside craft as required.
    • Must be able to meet the physical requirements and have the proper tools that are listed in the tool requirements.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • A high school diploma or GED, followed by a 4-5 year apprenticeship program that combines paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $44720 - $78520

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
