Job Description
The SCA Engineering Technician position is to fill a vacancy in our small (less than 10 person) Machine Shop. Candidate will be required to use measuring devices for rough cutting raw materials and laying out hole patterns. Welding experience is a beneficial skill set for this position. Ability to read drawings and blueprints to fabricate and assemble parts for installation aboard Navy ships.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $25.72/hr.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High School diploma and at least two years of experience in the maintenance machinery industry or a machine shop. Candidate should possess mechanical aptitude to effective use all standard hand tools for material forming and fabrication. Ability to accurately operate and read measuring devices and maintain tolerance on fabricated parts. Must exhibit mindfulness and understand safety requirements around all machine shop equipment and machinery.

Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
