Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Design Checking Specialist to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. Applicants should have knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards, electrical and mechanical design principles, and possess the ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally. Candidates should have expertise in 2D and 3D modeling, assemblies, drawing detailing, creating draft features, skilled in problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills for working within engineering teams.

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining design requirements using Bentley MicroStation and Visio. Candidates must be willing to learn PTC Creo 11.0 and will support existing staff providing artifacts for distribution and support the lead drafter reviewing the work of junior drafters/modelers. Design Specialists will create and update 3D models, drawings, and assemblies based on customer requirements, specify materials used on models, create models out of rough sketches, develop standardized models of products, coordinate with other teams to ensure the model is correct, and communicate effectively and professionally.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• High School or equivalent with 6 years experience in designing and drafting mechanical and electrical products using MicroStation
• Detailed understanding of engineering drawings
• Experienced with current and former drafting standards
• Ability to work with others in support to meet contract deliverables
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse work teams
• Juggle multiple projects at once
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's of Science with 2 years experience in designing and drafting mechanical and electrical products using MicroStation
• Experience with Parametric Technology Corporation Creo 11.0
• Experience using MicroStation V8i
• Experience with current and former industrial drafting standards
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to interface with government representatives and internal departments
• Experience with working in DOD environment
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $79365 - $134921

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
