Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented sander to join our team. This role involves receiving, inspecting, sanding, and spraying interior doors. The ideal candidate will have experience with wood finishing techniques and a strong eye for detail.Hours: 2nd shift (12:30 pm - 9:00 pm) Essential FunctionsCheck door tags, match door tags to invoices, verify ship dates, verify color.Operate a hand orbital sander.Visually check species and style of product.Visually check for defects: veneer cracks, mineral saps, chips, dings, nicks, etc.Determine if product is suitable for sanding, finishing, and shipping to customer.Knowledge of sanding equipment: Dual Action Orbital Sanders, ProWood Sander, and Black Light System.Proper use of dust masks, gloves, goggles, or others instructed by the Safety Manager.All other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to be highly organized and able to keep jobs together.Ability to interact with machining and finishing department team members.Ability to track paperwork, including pick tickets and purchase orders.Ability to access information from the computer, including: pick ticket delivery dates and information, purchase order arrivals and information, and customer information.Ability to communicate with supervisors and team members of other departments to coordinate information on a customer’s order.A high sense of urgency and a willingness to work as a team, not as an individual.Ability to understand the nature of wood species and veneers along with their individual characteristics in both sanding and finishing.
