What You Will Contribute

The Inspector checks and inspects in-coming materials, in-process and finished products, ensuring conformance to company quality standards and customer specifications. This position is also responsible for observing safe work habits and maintaining cleanliness of work area.

Job Duties

  • Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits.
  • Troubleshoot print and bill of materials problems.
  • Recommend methods of assembly and production.
  • Perform inspection on first piece, in process, purchased part and finished material and products, ensuring conformance to specifications.
  • Test finished products for, dimensions, fit, and appearance.
  • Perform tests including hardness testing and holiday testing.
  • Route product for re-work.
  • Complete all required records and paperwork to include inspection reports, damage reports, return reports, and re-work orders.
  • Process purchase damage numbers when incorrect material is received.
  • Ensure finished product is packaged and loaded correctly to minimize possible damage during transportation and incorrect product shipped.
  • Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standards.
  • Communicate with plant supervision noted deviations of tolerances and quality.
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.

Education and Experience

  • High School/GED required
  • 0-1 years of experience desired
  • Prior experience with measurement tools and gauges

Qualifications

  • Basic skills in math required
  • Basic proficiency with computers required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills a must

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day
  • Depending on the assigned department, must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift up to 60 pounds, and complete an audiogram test
