What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freight Broker position at Badger State Western, Inc?
We are currently in search of a freight broker for our in-house brokerage service. As a freight broker you will be responsible for securing new accounts, maintaining current knowledge of freight carrier services, ensure customer retention and build and maintain reliable truck capacity. You must be meticulous, customer-oriented as well as driver-oriented and have the ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
Responsibilities will include following compliance/insurance checklist for onboarding customers, verify authorities, safety ratings and liability insurance. Convey all special instructing to the carrier and communicate with dispatchers and drivers to track the status of loads. Plan and coordinate pickup and delivery schedules, troubleshoot any problems that arise. Maintain positive and productive relationships with customer. Develop new sales strategies to improve business, while maintaining current knowledge of market trends in the transportation marketplace.
Candidates must posses a valid drivers license, submit to a pre-employment drug test and have received at minimum a High School Diploma or GED. An ideal candidate will have 2 years or more of work experience in the Transportation field or experience directly with Brokering Freight and/or Dispatch. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, McLeod Trucking Software and general computer skills are preferred.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
