We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. JOB SUMMARY
The Monitoring Technician performs standard work related to telemetry monitoring on patients requiring continual cardiac observation and provides analysis of cardiac rhythms in compliance with all regulatory and hospital/system standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines. This position also provides the interpretation, communications and documentation of cardiac rhythms and other monitored parameters.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma, GED, or 1-year relevant work experience
Experience: None
License and Certification: Successful completion of Arrhythmia recognition and interpretation training prior to completing orientation (ability to test out if prior experience)
Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Experience: Previous nurse aide , monitor tech, EMT, inpatient unit secretary, or PCT Previous experience performing cardiac monitoring
License and Certification:
- Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician [CRAT] or equivalent.
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA)
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
- Basic Knowledge of ECG interpretation, medical/cardiac terminology preferred.
- Proficiency with navigating electronic monitor system.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills with attention to detail, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Intermediate level computer efficiency.
- Demonstrates safety practices in alignment with High Reliability.
- Embodies the HHC leadership behaviors and company values, and effectively utilizes the HHC operating model.
