American Dirt - Estimator / Project Manager

We are a rapidly expanding premier excavation company based in Northwest Arkansas. Function:

This position is responsible for all aspects of projects including but not limited to estimating, project management, operator/labor supervision and all applicable laws and municipal requirements. Position requires an average of 55 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

·        Business development and marketing

·        Represent company in new business opportunities through contacts with clients who are a critical part of new project possibilities.

·        Secure follow-up work with existing clients based on performance. 

·        Build and ensure projects are managed within budget. 

·        Retrieve the necessary permits, communicate with clients, subcontractors, and construction workers. 

·        Coordinate field staff and subcontractors. 

·        Comply with all safety, building codes, and legal requirements. 

·        Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other workers on the same project. 

·        Report project progress and budget details.

·        Coordinate materials and equipment deliveries.

·        Ability to train and coach employees.

Estimating:

·        Provide efficient take-off and estimating services.

·        Prepare all bids, estimates and budgets.

·        Conduct value engineering analysis including cost, construction feasibility, and schedule impact

·        Manage multiple estimates concurrently in different stages of development.

·        Represent American Dirt in business development efforts, including active participation in community and industry organizations, project reviews, and company events.

·        Maintain positive relationships with previous current, potential clients, designers, and other subcontractors.

Project Management:

·        Manage and direct day-to-day activities of division staff in line with established policies, practices, and procedures.

·        Oversee performance of design and construction phase of contract commitments to ensure timely execution of work.

·        Maintain close contact with owner and architect during all phases of the project.

·        Plan, organize, direct, and control all operations, personnel and budgets for all projects.

Requirements:

·        Minimum 5 years of experience in Construction Management, Design/Build, Negotiated, and Lump Sum Contracts.

·        Effective management of construction work, resulting in completion of contracts within time and cost limits.

·        Knowledge and implementation of construction budgeting best practices.

·        Good planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation, and contingencies.

·        Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues.

·        In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations.

·        Great problem-solving and decision-making skills.

·        Effective leadership abilities such as motivating others, goal setting, and conflict management,

·        Organizational skills including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking.

·        Customer service skills with the ability to listen and speak in a clear and concise manner.

·        Ability to process complex information and delegate to others effectively.

·        Time management skills to meet deadlines smoothly.

·        Technical skills to interpret construction methods, contracts, and drawings of the project.

·        Effective oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, decision-making ability, strong management and leadership skills, computer experience, bachelor’s degree preferred.

·        5 years heavy equipment operator experience. Efficient in operating a dozer, track hoe, roller, skid-steer, loader, grader, etc.

·        Total Station/Top Con, Trimble GPS experience a plus.

·        Planswift and/or InSite software proficiency preferred

·        Must be able to work 55 hours per week on average.
