We're Hiring: Assistant Kitchen Manager — Backpocket/Driftless

What we're looking for:
- Previous kitchen/BOH experience, with some leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to train, motivate, and support kitchen staff
- Comfortable with inventory, ordering, and prep scheduling
- Food safety knowledge (ServSafe certification a plus)
- Ability to stay calm and lead by example during busy service

Duties
- Assist in supervising daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet quality standards
- Support staff training initiatives to ensure consistent performance and adherence to food safety protocols
- Oversee inventory control processes, including stock levels, ordering, and waste reduction to optimize food cost
- Supervise shift management activities, including scheduling, task delegation, and ensuring smooth workflow during busy hours
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations related to food handling, sanitation, and workplace safety
- Collaborate with management on food production planning for catering events
- Assist in managing team performance through coaching, feedback sessions, and conducting interviews for new staff members
Experience
- Proven experience in quick service or fast food restaurant environments with a strong background in food preparation and cooking
- Demonstrated supervisory or assistant manager experience within the food industry or hospitality management setting
- Hands-on experience with inventory control, food safety management, and budget oversight including profit & loss analysis
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and develop team members effectively in a fast-paced setting
- Knowledge of culinary techniques across casual dining, catering, or banquet services is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills for managing staff training sessions, team leadership, and customer service interactions
