The Assembler II position at Backer Hotwatt, Inc. is responsible for performing more complex and skilled assembly tasks to manufacture products and components. Working under limited supervision, the Assembler II follows oral and/or written work instructions along with drawings to assemble parts, operate machinery, use hand tools, and ensure quality standards are met. This position requires a higher level of technical proficiency, the ability to troubleshoot assembly issues, and the capability to train or mentor Assembler I employees.
- Read, interpret, and follow assembly instructions, blueprints, diagrams, and other specifications to ensure accurate assembly of parts.
- Perform assembly tasks using hand tools, power tools, and machinery according to established procedures and guidelines.
- Enforce quality control at the workstation by inspecting components prior to assembling, inspect 1st piece and seek sign off from area Group Leader to ensure they meet quality standards before proceeding.
- Record and report any defects or issues to the area supervisor.
- At the end of every workday, clean the work area, maintain tools and equipment, to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to improve processes, resolve issues, and achieve production goals.
- Adhere to safety protocols, guidelines, and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and others.
- Complete production and quality documentation accurately and timely as required.
- Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Perform in-process inspections and testing to verify product compliance with specifications.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate specialized production equipment as needed.
- Provide guidance and on-the-job training to Assembler I team members.
- Work in different production areas as needed to support changing priorities, cross-train in multiple assembly operations, and maintain production flow.
What We Are Looking For
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good dexterity.
- Basic computer skills.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in assembly or manufacturing required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and assembly instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and quality with a willingness to learn and follow instructions closely.
- Able to safely use basic hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to lift 40lbs
- Capable of performing duties while standing for long durations.
- Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills within a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fabrication or machining experience is a plus.
- Experience with soldering, wiring, or precision assembly preferred.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles is a plus.
