Program Description:
Backcountry Wellness is a licensed behavioral health organization providing intensive outpatient service to clients 17 with eating disorders and co-occurring mood disorders. Backcountry offers a person-centered, holistic, and evidence-based treatment approach to help clients on their recovery journey. Through individual and group therapy, Backcountry’s programming assists those who live with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake, Orthorexia, and Other Specific Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED).
Job Summary:
The Registered Dietitian (RD) plays a central role in eating disorder treatment and takes on full responsibility for all dietary services throughout the treatment process. The therapeutic treatment team uses recommendations from the RD to sculpt appropriate meal plans and generate a healthy trajectory for nutrition, weight maintenance and ultimately a successful increase in weight over the course of the patient’s treatment. Formal documentation will also be required to conduct proper nutritional assessments over the course of treatment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Generate customized dietary plans, guidelines and best practices on a patient-by-patient basis
- Educate patients on nutritional aspects of their condition, dietary choices, and the importance of nutritional health
- Provide ongoing nutritional support and supervision to patients throughout the duration of their treatment
- Oversee the weekly menu and collaborate with and provide nutritional guidance to the Culinary Director and kitchen staff
- Maintain an active dialogue within the broader treatment team to inform the Clinical Director and therapists of any headway, setbacks or new developments in the area of dietary programming and nutrition
- Lead exploratory outings to restaurants, grocery stores, outdoor dining venues, etc.
- Liaise with patient families and communicate dietary plans, patient progress, and best practices in the home
- Provide supervision and training for dietary interns and other dietary staff
- Present relevant cases in Clinical Rounds in a clear and comprehensible manner and assist with transitions across treatment platforms when necessary
- Facilitate educational and nutrition-based groups
- Coordinate meal support and outpatient services programming with discharged patients
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree at a US accredited university or college
- Registered Dietitian credential: Licensed Registered Dietitian strongly preferred
- Two years’ experience in dietary education and management preferred
- Eating disorder experience strongly preferred

Pay: $77,500.00 - $92,500.00 per year
