Role Description
This is a part-time, contractual role as a Wilderness Skills Instructor for training courses offered across the United States. The instructor will lead and oversee outdoor expeditions, including backpacking trips and wilderness therapy sessions, ensuring participants' safety and engagement. Responsibilities include delivering experiential education curricula, mentoring participants, providing guidance in outdoor recreation, and maintaining a high standard of safety by adhering to protocols, including Wilderness First Responder practices. Collaborating with team members to plan and execute meaningful, educational outdoor activities is an essential part of this role.
Qualifications
- Experience in Outdoor Education and developing transformative outdoor experiences
- Proficiency in Backpacking and Outdoor Recreation activities
- Certification or strong knowledge in Wilderness First Responder practices and safety protocols
- Expertise in Experiential Education with a focus on hands-on learning in outdoor settings
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to guide diverse groups
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in various outdoor environments
- Previous experience in team collaboration and logistical planning for outdoor programs
- A strong understanding of bushcraft and fieldcraft practices is essential
