General Job Description
The Host plays a key role in shaping the guest experience from the moment guests arrive. This position is responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing reservations and waitlists, handling phone inquiries, and supporting overall front-of-house flow. Hosts create a warm, memorable, and one-of-a-kind experience through thoughtful hospitality, clear communication, and strong situational awareness.
This role works under general supervision while exercising initiative and independent judgment in guest-facing situations. Additional duties and tasks may be assigned by management as needed.
Job Activities
- Participate in daily pre-meal lineups with team members and management
- Complete pre- and post-shift side work, including preparing host books and identifying VIPs and regular guests
- Demonstrate impeccable phone etiquette and manage incoming calls with professionalism
- Greet, engage, and converse with guests in a warm, confident, and friendly manner
- Build genuine guest relationships through thoughtful, intuitive hospitality
- Manage seating flow and understand restaurant timing and pacing
- Assist with reservation management and demonstrate working knowledge of OpenTable
- Perform reservationist duties as needed
- Handle guest concerns or dissatisfaction with grace and professionalism
- Maintain open and proactive communication with management and teammates
- Demonstrate confidence, poise, and professionalism when interacting with guests
- Lift objects up to 25 lbs and traverse stairways multiple times throughout a shift
Qualifications & Availability
- Must have night time availability, including weekends and holidays
- Previous customer service experience preferred (restaurants, hotels, hospitality, or sales)
- Strong people skills, outward energy, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Genuine interest in hospitality and guest satisfaction
Certifications
- Food Safety and RBS certification required
- If not currently certified, employee must complete certifications within 30 days of hire
