General Job Description

The Busser / Food Runner Expediter plays an integral role in delivering a seamless and memorable guest experience by supporting the pace, flow, and overall execution of service. This position is responsible for delivering food with precision and care, maintaining a clean and well-organized dining environment, and assisting with expediting to ensure accuracy and timing across all orders.

This role requires a high level of awareness, communication, and attention to detail, with a focus on anticipating the needs of both guests and team members. Busser / Food Runner / Expediters contribute to a dynamic and hospitality-driven environment by supporting service at every touchpoint and helping create a polished, thoughtful dining experience.

This role works under general supervision while exercising initiative and sound judgment in a fast-paced, guest-focused setting. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by management as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a seamless and efficient service experience by maintaining clean, organized, and fully stocked dining and service areas
  • Deliver food with accuracy, urgency, and attention to presentation, ensuring proper timing and guest satisfaction
  • Assist with expediting by organizing tickets, coordinating order flow, and ensuring dishes are complete and accurate before leaving the pass
  • Communicate clearly with BOH to confirm readiness, modifications, and timing of orders during service
  • Anticipate guest and team needs, providing proactive support to servers and bartenders throughout service
  • Demonstrate strong menu knowledge, including ingredients and allergy awareness, to support confident food delivery
  • Engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner, contributing to a positive and welcoming environment
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness across all areas
  • Handle guest concerns with professionalism and escalate appropriately when needed
  • Contribute to a team-focused environment by supporting all front-of-house roles as needed

Qualifications & Availability

  • Must have night time availability, including weekends and holidays
  • Previous customer service experience preferred (restaurants, hotels, hospitality, or sales)
  • Strong people skills, outward energy, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Genuine interest in hospitality and guest satisfaction

Certifications

  • Food Safety and RBS certification required
  • If not currently certified, employee must complete certifications within 30 days of hire

Physical Job Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to perform all physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Remaining in a stationary position up to 80% of the time
  • Frequently lifting and moving boxes, tables, umbrellas, chairs, and other items weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Working outdoors on patios in varying weather conditions
  • Exposure to hot kitchen areas and walk-in refrigerators or freezers
