Duties
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to ensure seamless treatment authorization.
- Process dental insurance claims accurately, utilizing DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding standards to ensure proper reimbursement.
- Review medical records and documentation to support claim submissions, ensuring compliance with medical terminology and billing guidelines.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, reducing outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with dental staff to update patient records and ensure precise coding for procedures performed.
- Maintain detailed records of insurance interactions, claim statuses, and billing activities to support audit readiness.
- Stay current with changes in medical coding regulations, including ICD coding updates, to ensure ongoing compliance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dental office administration or dental insurance coordination with a strong understanding of medical billing processes.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and dental records management is essential.
- Knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and other medical coding standards required for accurate claim processing.
- Experience in medical collection practices to effectively resolve unpaid claims.
