Bachman’s Lyndale store has an opening for a Senior Buyer – Garden Hardgoods. As a Senior Buyer at Bachman’s, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales, margin, and overall profitability across our Garden Hardgoods category. You’ll lead the development and execution of a comprehensive merchandise strategy and financial plan that supports both retail and wholesale channels. With a strong focus on product performance and customer demand, you will build multi-level assortments, select and price product lines, negotiate with vendors, and manage the full purchase order cycle to ensure the right products are available at the right time.

You will partner closely with store teams and Visual Merchandising to bring the merchant vision to life and ensure merchandising priorities are executed with excellence. This is an opportunity to shape a critical product portfolio and make a significant impact on Bachman’s continued growth.

Job duties:

• Develop the merchandise strategy for the Garden Hardgoods Department. 
• Establish merchandise matrix for stores, grocery, wholesale and website. 
• Product selection, product pricing, advertising and ordering of designated categories/products. 
• Financial Planning of Sales, MDs, Margin and Inventory. 
• Help generate purchase orders, track sales, control inventory and reorder as needed. 
• Communication with stores on merchandise strategy, business strategy, signing, promotions and provide category/new product training and direction
• Guide Visual Merchandising staff to achieve our merchandising goals, to include product display, signing and information where appropriate.
• Coordinate with the warehouse regarding vendor scheduling, store divides, pricing, special orders, product receipts, product returns, and vendor questions. 
• Ensure that replenishments are scheduled and executed appropriately, with timely delivery to stores. 
• Coordinate freight for soils/mulch.
• Define merchandise assortment for Stores, Grocery, and Website. 
• Create signing for stores. 
• Acquire copy, search data and photography for website.
• Purchase of supplies to support stores.
• Help with special events and seasonal holidays.
• Attend trade shows on occasion.

• 4 year degree required
• 5-10 years previous buying experience required
• 2-5 years previous retail store experience helpful
• Knowledge of excel and Microsoft office products required
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong sense of industry trends
• Strong financial aptitude (ability to calculate prices, mark ups and margins).
• Ability to represent Bachman’s in a professional way to vendors.
• Negotiation skills
• Experience in assortment planning
• Experience in financial planning and open to buy management
