Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized part-time Medical Billing Specialist to join our team with the ability for the role to move to full-time in the future. This hybrid role combines medical billing expertise with responsibilities in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR). The ideal candidate will ensure accurate billing, timely collections, and efficient financial operations to support the company’s revenue cycle and vendor relationships.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or healthcare administration preferred.
- 5 years of experience in medical billing and AP/AR functions.
- Experience with electronic health records (HER) systems.
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing.
- Ability to work independently and manager multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and accounting.
- Strong understanding of insurance guidelines, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and EOBs.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities
Medical Billing:
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies and patients.
- Review and verify patient billing data for accuracy and completeness.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and appeals.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
- Communicate with providers, patients, and insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
Accounts Receivable:
- Monitor incoming payments and reconcile accounts.
- Generate and send invoices to clients and payers.
- Track aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Post payments and adjustments accurately in the accounting system.
Accounts Payable:
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of AP transactions.
- Assist with month-end closing and financial reporting.
Physically, the day-to-day functions of the role require:
- Standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 lbs.
- A normal range of vision and hearing (inclusive of candidates using corrective measures such as glasses or hearing aids).
- Occasional repetitive motions.
- Collection of blood samples.
