Position Title: Peer Accessibility Assistant Department: Accessibility Services Supervisors: Rachel Cosgrove and EJ Chen Employment Type: Student Employment Pay Rate: $15/hour Position Summary The Peer Accessibility Assistant supports the Department of Accessibility Services (DAS) through several roles: attending classes to take and share notes, and assisting with exam sessions through proctoring, reading exam content aloud, or scribing student responses. This role ensures equitable access to learning and testing environments while upholding Babson College’s values of integrity, professionalism, and inclusion. Key Responsibilities Note-Taking: Attend assigned classes and take clear, organized notes. Upload notes within 12 hours of class. If unable to attend, arrange a substitute. Exam Support: Reading: Read exam content aloud to students requiring auditory assistance. Scribing: Transcribe student responses during exams for those unable to write independently. Proctoring: Administer and monitor exams, distribute materials, announce instructions, manage breaks, and report misconduct. Administrative Duties: Assist with front desk tasks, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and managing appointment logistics. Qualifications Excellent listening and communication skills Neat handwriting (if laptops are not permitted) Strong typing and computer proficiency Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented Comfortable working with diverse student populations Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing Training & Expectations Attend a 90-minute training session covering confidentiality, academic integrity, disability services, and exam procedures Submit weekly timesheets accurately reflecting hours worked Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Follow exam policies including handling late arrivals, managing personal breaks, and ensuring exam integrity Report suspected academic misconduct to the Coordinator of disAbility Services Employment Requirements Position must appear in your Workday account before starting A valid Social Security Number and appropriate documentation (e.g., passport) are required Must meet with Student Employment within 24 hours of job offer About Us We’re all different.
