What are the responsibilities and job description for the CATTLE OPERATIONS / RANCH HANDS position at Baalman Feedyard?
NOW HIRING — TWO CATTLE OPERATIONS / RANCH HANDS
Baalman Angus Genetics
We’re looking for two capable, dependable people to join our cattle operation. At least one must have strong calving experience and be able to handle daily calving responsibilities independently. Responsibilities include:
- Calving cows and caring for newborn calves.
- Accurately recording and tracking cattle data.
- Feeding, checking water, and monitoring cattle health.
- Building and repairing fences.
- Maintaining and repairing facilities and equipment.
- Sorting and handling bulls, heifers, cows, and pairs, including moving cattle through the sale ring.
- Helping with cattle pictures, clipping, branding, and processing.
- Helping in the feedyard as needed.
Both positions report to our feedyard manager. We expect people to recognize what needs attention, take ownership, and finish work without constant supervision—and know when to ask for help. You’ll also represent our operation around customers and potential customers. Appropriate, presentable work attire, a respectful attitude, and clear, professional communication are part of the job. How you treat people matters as much as how you handle cattle and equipment. This is a hands-on working position—not a sit-on-your-horse-all-day job. Be ready to work cattle, run equipment, fix things, and keep accurate records. We work hard, take pride in doing things right, and like to have fun while getting the job done. We’re looking for useful skills, good judgment, and people who work well with others.
