We are growing and seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support our project management team.
Job Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager with commercial construction experience who is eager to learn and grow into a larger role. In this position, you will support Project Managers in planning, budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and client communication. You will work closely with field teams, designers, and clients to help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to BA Barrett Construction’s quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers in overseeing multiple commercial construction projects
- Help maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors, and vendors
- Assist with estimating, material takeoffs, and budget preparation
- Support the development and updating of project schedules
- Help coordinate subcontractor scopes, proposals, and purchase orders
- Assist with permitting, inspections, and testing coordination
- Help prepare the Schedule of Values and compile monthly pay applications
- Review and organize subcontractor and vendor invoices for PM approval
- Assist in tracking project budgets, cost reports, and forecasting
- Attend OAC and subcontractor meetings and take detailed meeting minutes
- Help manage RFIs, submittals, and drawing logs
- Assist in reviewing drawing revisions and identifying potential cost or schedule impacts
- Help process change orders and track pricing from subcontractors
- Support the resolution of subcontractor issues in coordination with the Project Manager
- Promote and support job site safety compliance
- Assist with project closeout, punch lists, owner training coordination, and turnover documentation
- Provide general support to the project team as needed to ensure successful project delivery
Qualifications
- Preferred 1–3 years of experience in commercial construction experience as an assistant PM, project engineer, or similar role is preferred but not required.
- Experience with interiors, retail, restaurant, office, or renovation projects is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Microsoft Project and Bluebeam is preferred but not required
