Sanitation Tech

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. The Sanitation Technician will work in a team environment to clean and sanitize the production areas of B & W Quality Growers packing facilities. Other duties may be assigned.

· Clear processing lines of product waste through use of a high pressure air wand.

· Washing and sanitizing of equipment with water and chemicals delivered through a system of hoses and mixing stations

· Clean floors, walls and other surfaces throughout the facility in accordance with the Master Sanitation Log.

· Work as a team with supervisors and coworkers to accomplish all daily tasks.

· Operate motors, conveyors and misc. processing equipment to accomplish cleaning and sanitizing duties.

· Ensure sensitive equipment is covered and protected from the cleaning and sanitizing process.

· Expected to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in a safe manner and according to the standard set by B & W.

• EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE – High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Prior experience in Industrial Sanitation in a Food Processing facility is preferred but not necessary.

· COMMUNICATION SKILL LEVEL – Must be able to effectively communicate in English verbally and comprehension. Must have the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

• PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS – Ability to work independently, organize and coordinate work assignments.
• CERTIFICATIONS and/or LICENSES REQUIRED – Previous Forklift Certification and ability to become B&W Forklift Certified a plus.
• MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED – Air Hoses, Water Hoses, Brooms, Squeegees, Basic Sanitation/Janitorial Supplies.

· Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that will include weekends and holidays. THIS IS A 3RD SHIFT POSITION BUT THE START TIME CAN VARY DEPENDING ON WHEN PRODUCTION STOPS.

· Must be willing to work in a cold and wet environment.

· Must be willing to handle chemicals including strong acids and bases.

· Must be able to work safely in a processing environment that includes wet floors, heavy machinery, moving fork lifts and chemicals.

· Must have the ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing. Must be able to climb, bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. Must be able to safely lift up to 75 pounds.

· Must have the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

· Must be able to communicate effectively and follow all safety and quality guidelines.

Must be willing to work a rotating schedule that will include weekends and holidays. As well as flexible start and end times during the day and night.

Environmental conditions are similar to those of a typical production or manufacturing office and that of a packinghouse where temperatures vary inclusive of working in cold controlled temperature of 34 degrees. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is could be exposed to work in high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is expected to tolerate the work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
