What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machinist position at B&W Machine Works Inc.?
Location: Perkasie, PA
Position Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st shift
Compensation: Above market, commensurate with experience
About Us
B&W Machine Works Inc. is a precision CNC machine shop serving aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing customers. AS9100D certified, we produce high-tolerance parts in a clean, modern, and tech-forward environment. Every job runs through a fully digital system: setup sheets, tooling documentation with photos, programs, and inspection records all in one place. The shop is growing and the systems are built to support that growth.
The Opportunity
This is a role for a machinist who has put in the time and wants to be somewhere that reflects that. You will set up your own jobs, work from clear digital work instructions, and have real input into how processes improve over time. The work is high-mix across demanding materials and a varied mill lineup that includes horizontal machining centers and high-speed verticals with 4th axis capability.
If you have worked somewhere where the answer to "why do we do it this way?" was always "that's how we've always done it," and that frustrated you, you will find a different kind of conversation here.
What You'll Do
- Set up and run CNC vertical and horizontal mills independently
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Select tooling, speeds, feeds, and work-holding for each job
- Perform in-process inspection and first article documentation
- Use our ERP system to manage digital work instructions and log production data
- Cross-train across the full mill lineup including 4th axis capability
- Contribute to continuous improvement around setups, cycle times, and tooling
What We're Looking For
- 5 or more years of CNC milling with independent setup and prove-out
- Strong GD&T fluency and precision measurement skills
- G-code literate with ability to edit at the control
- Experience across multiple machine platforms preferred
- Comfortable working in a documented, digital workflow where traveler discipline matters
- Background in an AS9100 or ISO 9001 environment is a significant plus
Nice to Have
- Experience on horizontal machining centers
- 4th axis setup and programming experience
- Familiarity with high-speed machining strategies in aluminum or nickel alloys
- Prior experience with ERP-driven shop floor workflows
Why Work With Us
- Above-market hourly pay with performance-based compensation reviews
- Fully digital shop: paperless workflows, ERP-driven setup sheets, no hunting for information
- AS9100D certified with a quality system that makes your job more predictable, not more bureaucratic
- Modern equipment, including horizontal and high-speed 3-axis vertical machining centers
- A team that is actively building something and wants people who want to be part of that
- Health insurance stipend, profit sharing, paid time off, sick time, and 401(k) with matching
