The Data Entry Specialist – Mid provides mid-level keypunching and data entry support for BEA's survey processing operations under the direction of the Senior Data Entry Specialist. This position is responsible for processing paper-form submissions of BEA annual, quarterly, and benchmark surveys, supporting the production of BEA's national economic statistics. The mid-level specialist performs high-accuracy data entry, document scanning, and form management tasks, working collaboratively to meet survey processing deadlines and maintain quality standards.
- Keypunch, scan, and manage BEA survey forms under direction of the Senior Data Entry Specialist
- Process Annual surveys: BE-11 (including all supplements), BE-13, BE-15 (including supplements), and BE-29
- Process Quarterly surveys: BE-577, BE-605, BE-45, BE-125, BE-185, BE-9, BE-30, and BE-37
- Support processing of Benchmark surveys: BE-10, BE-12, BE-120, BE-180, and BE-140
- Verify accuracy of entered data against source documents; identify and flag discrepancies for correction
- Scan and digitize paper survey forms; maintain organized digital and physical filing systems
- Meet production accuracy and throughput standards; maintain quality control over all data entry work
- Coordinate with Senior Data Entry Specialist on priority handling and special instructions during peak survey periods
- Maintain processing logs and status records for assigned survey batches
- High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred
- 2 years of data entry, keypunching, or document processing experience
- Demonstrated keyboarding speed and accuracy (minimum 8,000 KPH or equivalent)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
- Strong attention to detail; ability to sustain high-accuracy data entry across high-volume tasks
- Ability to follow precise instructions and established processing procedures
- Experience in a federal government or statistical agency data processing environment
- Familiarity with economic, financial, or survey data concepts
- Experience with document scanning equipment and digital filing systems
- Associate's degree or higher in Business Administration, Data Management, or related field
- Knowledge of data quality verification procedures
