Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking, independent contractor (1099), Delivery Helper to assist with Home Depot deliveries. In this role, you will ride along with the driver, help load and unload merchandise (including appliances, lumber, and other bulky items), and ensure safe, on-time delivery to customers’ homes or job sites. The ideal candidate will work closely with drivers to ensure safe and efficient transportation of goods. This role requires strong communication skills, a good understanding of vehicle operation, and the ability to assist with loading and unloading cargo. This includes operating lift gate, strapping all deliveries, etc. The Driver Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality of service provided to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Assist drivers in loading and unloading cargo from commercial vehicle, including box truck.
- Ensure that all freight is secured properly for transport to prevent damage during transit.
- Communicate effectively with drivers regarding delivery schedules and routes.
- Perform pre-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure safety compliance.
- Operate dollies. pallet jacks, and other equipment as needed for moving goods.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the vehicle and loading areas.
- Support drivers in navigating routes efficiently while adhering to safety regulations.
- Follow all safety procedures and driver instructions.
- Must be eligible to work as a 1099 independent contractor (you are responsible for your own taxes)
Requirements
- Ability to lift and move heavy items
- Reliable transportation to and from the starting location
- Good communication skills and customer service attitude
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours
- Experience using moving equipment (dollies, straps, pallet jacks) is a plus
Schedule & Pay:
- 1099 contractor position (not W-2 employment)
- Full-time available
- Morning shifts, Monday-Saturday (Start between 6AM-7AM)
- Same pay if 1 load or 8 loads.
- Paid weekly cash.
