B&M Catering Company, Inc. provides over 7,000 school meals per day to dozens of schools across the Providence County region. As a School Food Service Worker, you will be responsible for providing meal preparation and service at your assigned location.
Position Summary
The Food Service Worker supports daily meal preparation and service in a school cafeteria, ensuring that students receive nutritious, appealing meals in a clean and safe environment. This position requires a commitment to food safety, sanitation, and excellent customer service, while working as part of a team to meet the needs of students and staff. This position will be assigned to a home school account, and may from time to time work at other schools as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
- Assist in preparing breakfast, lunch, and snack items according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
- Set up serving lines with proper food items, condiments, and utensils.
- Serve food quickly and courteously to students and staff, maintaining portion control.
Sanitation & Safety
- Follow all food safety regulations, including proper temperature control and storage.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, serving lines, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Ensure compliance with school district, state, and federal health standards.
Inventory & Supplies
- Assist with receiving, checking, and storing food and supply deliveries.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Food Service Manager.
- Rotate stock to ensure freshness and reduce waste.
Teamwork & Communication
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and supervisors.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional demeanor at all times.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (or in progress for student workers).
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 lbs., and work in hot/cold environments.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn safe food handling practices.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred:
- Prior food service, cafeteria, or customer service experience.
- ServSafe or other food handler certification.
- Experience working with children in an educational setting.

Compensation
- $20-25 per hour
- Set schedule - Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. (30 hours per week)
