POSITION SUMMARY
We are expanding our Mechanical Division and are seeking a Senior Startup &
Commissioning Technician who will own the final phase of our construction projects —
system startup, commissioning support, troubleshooting, and turnover quality. This position is ideal for a seasoned technician with 7-10 years of commercial HVAC and low-temp refrigeration experience, who is ready to take the lead on complex service calls, mentor junior techs, and represent the company with professionalism and confidence.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
B&M Builders is a General Engineering Contractor, Construction Company with Specialty Expertise in Asphalt, Concrete, ADA, and Mechanical Services. B&M is based in Sacramento California and has GEO market reach throughout the Greater Sacramento Region. We provide “No Fee” site assessments that will provide an up to date profile of property conditions, ADA compliance and mechanical systems functional performance.
OBJECTIVES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leverage extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC and mechanical systems with minimal supervision.
- Take initiative as a lead technician on complex projects — ensuring timely and effective resolution of technical issues.
- Provide hands-on mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members to support skill development and project success.
- Ensure all work consistently meets company safety protocols and complies with applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with clients and internal teams; document all work using digital platforms and work-order systems.
- Be willing to travel to various job sites and accommodate occasional overnight stays in order to meet operational demands.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience installing and repairing Variable-Refrigerant-Flow (VRF) systems.
- Familiarity with built-up HVAC systems and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Knowledge of hydronic heating and cooling systems.
- Skilled in refrigeration work — including walk-in boxes, ice machines, and low-temperature refrigeration systems.
- Comfortable using third-party work-order platforms (e.g. CBRE, ServiceChannel, Brinco).
- Over 7–10 years of hands-on experience in commercial HVAC and low-temp refrigeration systems.
