POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and developing new business opportunities for B&M Civil LLC. This role focuses on building long-term client relationships and generating high-quality opportunities that align with the company’s strategic growth objectives.

The BDR actively engages prospective clients, develops relationships with General Contractors, facility owners, property managers, and other target customer groups, and supports the pursuit of negotiated and repeat work. This position operates as a hybrid role, combining in-office sales execution with external field engagement, and works closely with the Sales Manager and internal teams to ensure opportunities are properly qualified and handed off for estimating and execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Business Development & Prospecting

● Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities through outreach, research, calling, networking, and relationship-building activities.

● Develop relationships with target clients aligned with company sales personas.

● Research and identify prospective customers, projects, and market opportunities.

● Initiate first-contact conversations and maintain consistent communication with prospects.

● Represent B&M Civil LLC professionally in all external interactions.


Relationship Development & Opportunity Generation

● Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients.

● Support the development of repeat and negotiated work opportunities.

● Attend client meetings, site walks, industry events, and networking functions.

● Maintain consistent follow-up to develop trust and familiarity over time.

● Coordinate closely with the Sales Manager on key pursuits and account strategy.


Sales Process & Internal Coordination

● Maintain a regular in-office presence to support sales execution, planning, follow-up, and coordination.

● Qualify opportunities prior to handoff to estimating or leadership.

● Assist in gathering high-level project information without committing pricing, schedule, or scope.

● Maintain accurate records of contacts, opportunities, and activity in company tracking systems.

● Participate in sales meetings, pipeline reviews, and internal coordination efforts.


What This Role Is Not Responsible For

● Preparing cost estimates or bid pricing

● Negotiating contract terms

● Managing projects afterward

● Committing to schedule, means and methods, or pricing


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

● Experience in construction-related business development, sales, or client-facing roles preferred.

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

● Ability to build rapport and trust with a wide range of client types.

● Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.

● Comfortable initiating conversations and developing new relationships.

● Familiarity with civil construction, HVAC, or commercial construction markets is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

● Ability to travel to job sites, walk uneven terrain, and take measurements and photos. ● Ability to sit, stand, and drive for extended periods.
