About the Role
B & L Mechanical, Inc. is currently seeking a skilled Commercial HVAC & GSM Estimator. This is a full-time opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with strong experience in commercial HVAC estimating & GSM, including knowledge of Title 24 energy compliance.
The HVAC Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive proposals for commercial projects while collaborating with engineers, project managers, clients, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial HVAC & GSM projects, including materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractor pricing
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications
- Ensure estimates comply with Title 24 energy standards and local building codes
- Conduct site visits and job walks to gather relevant project information
- Source and coordinate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and other departments to align with project goals
- Maintain organized records of bids, proposals, and related documentation
- Track and follow up on submitted bids and pending projects
- Participate in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in commercial HVAC estimating
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings / plans
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet tight deadlines
