Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the Prep Department.
- Lead, train, and support department employees while promoting a safe, productive, and team-oriented work environment.
- Oversee the operation of shop equipment, including saws, plasma tables, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions to ensure materials are prepared accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate workflow and prioritize tasks to meet production schedules and deadlines.
- Monitor quality, productivity, and organization throughout the department.
- Ensure materials are properly staged, organized, and prepared for the next phase of fabrication.
- Troubleshoot production issues and communicate effectively with management and other departments.
- Perform basic computer operations related to daily workflow, production, and shop activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive attitude among department employees.
- Be willing to work up to 60 hours per week, as needed, to meet production demands.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a fabrication shop.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience operating saws, plasma tables, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
- Proficient in reading a tape measure and performing basic math calculations.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding, and hot shop environment.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- Positive attitude and a commitment to maintaining a productive work environment.
