Duties
- Measure, cut, and install tiles with precision according to project specifications and blueprints
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and applying necessary adhesives or mortar
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other trades such as plumbing, electrical, and carpentry teams to ensure seamless integration of tile work within larger construction projects
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to cut and shape tiles as needed
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and construction drawings to execute accurate tile layouts
- Apply grout, caulking, and sealants to finish surfaces professionally and prevent water infiltration
- Maintain a clean work area during and after installation to ensure safety and quality standards are met
Skills
- Extensive experience with tile laying techniques on various surfaces including floors, walls, backsplashes, and countertops
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and schematics interpretation for precise installation planning
- Skilled in using hand tools (trowels, chisels) and power tools (wet saws, drills) safely and efficiently
- Ability to perform construction inspection tasks ensuring quality control throughout the project lifecycle
- Understanding of plumbing and electrical systems relevant to tile installation projects
- Capable of working on construction sites with adherence to safety protocols in diverse environments including remodeling or new builds
